Many people have asked: how to get to St. Mark's Square starting from Railway Station?

The avenues are different, in relation to your own sense of direction. Leaving aside the simpler, almost all straight along the Strada Nova, we recommend taking a longer route Venetian to learn something about of the city that you begin to discover.
Once at the Railway Station cross the Grand Canal along the Ponte degli Scalzi, to arrive first Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio, then Campo Santa Maria Mater Domini and to Rialto's Bridge following the route Ferrovia - San Giacomo dall'Orio - Rialto.

Across Rialto's Bridge, the first placeholder on the second map, the road is relatively short. In less than ten minutes, if you don't take a wrong road, you arrive in St. Mark's Square.
Then crossed the Rialto's Bridge you get in Campo San Bartolomeo where is the monument to Carlo Goldoni the famous Venetian playwright.
Leave the monument at left side and turning right, you will arrive at the beginning of Mercerie, turning left after about 50 meters.
Along the Mercerie, divided in four parts, Mercerie San Salvador the first part, the Mercerie del Capitello until Ponte dei Bareteri, the Mercerie San Zulian and finally the Mercerie dell'Orologio.
You walked all the Mercerie you get to your destination much sought: St. Mark's Square.

If you would prefer to arrive by car the way that we proposed turns in the opposite direction, towards the Ponte dell'Accademia.
The route from Piazzale Roma leads to Ponte dell'Accademia can be changed especially in the initial period to Campo Santa Margherita, but it is proposed that usually is considered the shortest.
Crossed the Campo Santa Margherita continue on the far left for Campo San Barnaba, for toletta' until Ponte de le Meravegie through which it was almost reached to Ponte dell'Accademia.
For more details follow the Itinerary: Piazzale Roma - Santa Margherita - San Barnaba - Toilet - Field of Charity or Academy.

The second part of the route is more fully described in the Itinerary: San Marco - San Moise - Santa Maria del Giglio - Santo Stefano - Accademia Bridge, following the signs that lead first Campo Santo Stefano, then Campo San Maurizio, the Calle Larga XXII Marzo, to get in St. Mark's Square.
